Director of the Office of Planning and Performance Management

Patricia Currier

Patricia Currier is presently the Director of Planning and Performance Management at the Department of the Interior. She reports to the Deputy Assistant Secretary - Policy and Environmental Management. The Director serves as the Department's Evaluation Officer, Deputy Performance Improvement Officer, and Chief Risk Officer in compliance with The Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018, GPRA Modernization Act of 2010, Executive Order 13450, and OMB Circular A-123, respectively.

Her responsibilities include: aligning investments with Administration and Secretarial goals and objectives; advising the Secretary and bureau heads on processes for assessing and improving programmatic performance; establishing an enterprise risk management framework for the Department; strengthening the use of evidence in cross-Departmental programmatic and budget planning; and advising on goals, strategies, policies, and activities that support sound management practices across the Department.

Prior to joining the Department of Interior in 2019, Ms. Currier worked at NASA Headquarters in the areas of performance, budgeting, policy, project management, and continuous improvement. In her career at NASA, she worked in several mission areas including life sciences, STEM education, labor relations, and management of experiments on the space shuttle. She has a BS from Tufts University, and an MS and MBA from Florida Institute of Technology. She is also a certified ombudsman. Amongst her many interests, Ms. Currier enjoys traveling, history, and baking. She also likes to experiment in the kitchen, based on what she has learned from her travels. Her friends, family, and colleagues don't mind that at all.
