The Museum of the Plains Indian to feature Brandy Boure and Heidi Dubray-Burns in a Special Exhibition

BROWNING, MONTANA:

The Museum of the Plains Indian, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Indian Arts and Crafts Board, is pleased to announce a special introduction for the 2025 Summer Showcase artists, featuring Brandy Boure and Heidi Dubray-Burns.  On July 11, 2025, the Museum of the Plains Indian will host a meet and greet the artist from 3:00 pm-4:30 pm. The exhibition will run through September 30, 2025. 

Brandy Boure, is an enrolled member of the Suquamish Tribe of Washington and is also a descendent of the Blackfeet Tribe. She is a great grandchild of the late Percy Bull Child, a Blackfeet Author.  

Brandy is a developing, talented young artist whose art is inspired by traditional tribe imagery and designs.  She discovered her love for art at a very early age and immersed herself into learning different techniques of coastal Salish art, including cedar carving, weaving and sketching. She entered a design contest in 2023 at the Suquamish Museum, in which one of her designs was chosen. By 2024, Brandy’s designs were being printed on store merchandise and sold in stores.

Heidi Dubray, an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Tribe, is a self-taught artist and a full-time educator who has mastered the process and different techniques of porcupine quillwork. 

Heidi’s inspiration for art came from her aunt who taught her how to bead at an early age and she later became interested in the art of porcupine quillwork. She began exploring the art of porcupine quillwork that developed into the skillful art of creating beautiful porcupine quill designs on a variety of items. 

The designs on her quillwork reflect both her traditional and personal identity. She wants to honor the artistic legacy of her people using varied geometric designs and colors, all while expressing her own voice as a contemporary Indian artist.

With her busy schedule as an educator, she clings to her passion for art, finding it as both therapeutic and relaxing.
