The Department of the Interior is launching a full review of offshore wind energy regulations to ensure alignment with the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act and America’s energy priorities under President Donald J. Trump. This effort includes reviewing the Renewable Energy Modernization Rule, as well as financial assurance requirements and decommissioning cost estimates for offshore wind projects, to ensure federal regulations do not provide preferential treatment to unreliable, foreign-controlled energy sources over dependable, American-made energy.

Following President Trump’s signing of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, or H.R. 1, the Department of the Interior is implementing key changes that will promote U.S. energy production, timber development and other regulatory actions needed to ensure the responsible management of our natural resources and public lands. 

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, chair and vice chair of the National Energy Dominance Council (NEDC), today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance collaboration on energy and artificial intelligence (AI) with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel (Michael) Leiter.
