May 1, 2011 – President of Palau, Johnson Toribiong, released a statement on the death of Osama bin Laden: The killing of Osama Bin Laden by the United States is a crippling blow by the forces of freedom and justice against the forces of terrorism and evil, which this man personified. It makes us, one of the allies and partners of the United States, feel more secure as well as validated that the ultimate sacrifice that some of our sons and daughters have made in Iraq and Afghanistan were not done so in vain. Hurrah to President Obama and the brave and courageous American Freedom Fighters who are risking their lives everyday to preserve our freedom, democracy and way of life. End quote.

Citizens of the Freely Associated States of Palau, the Marshall Islands and Micronesia, including U.S. citizens from the U.S. Territories continue to serve in all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces in great numbers, disproportionate to their populations.

The Office of Insular Affairs is proud to recognize all who have served and are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Office of Insular Affairs is especially honored to remember all who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
