Bulletin: Necker Bay Zone in Unit 4 Open to Mountain Goat Harvest

Sitka, Alaska – The Acting Sitka District Ranger, in cooperation with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, is reopening the Necker Bay zone on Baranof Island to mountain goat harvest effective Wednesday September 9, 2026. The Necker Bay zone will remain open through the rest of the 2026 season, which ends Thursday December 31, unless closed by special action. 

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game issued a concurrent opening in the same zone. Due to a clerical error, two harvested male goats were assigned to this hunt zone. At this time no goats have been harvested in the Necker Bay zone.
