Subsistence Drawing Hunt Application Period Open for Units 7 & 15

The Chugach National Forest District Ranger and the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Manager, under authority of the Federal Subsistence Board announce the open application period for Federal Subsistence Drawing Hunts on Federal Lands on the Kenai Peninsula in Units 7 and 15.

You must be a Federally qualified resident from the authorized community established for each hunt to apply. The application deadline is Friday March 31, 2023 at 4:00 pm. No applications will be accepted after that time. Drawings for each hunt will be conducted and winners will be contacted beginning April 4, 2022.

For the 2023 season the following permits will be available;

Unit 15 (Open to Federally qualified residents of Cooper Landing, Hope, Moose Pass, Nanwalek, Ninilchik, Port Graham, and Seldovia)

  • Four Mountain Goat permits will be available from hunt areas DG356 (Indian Creek one permit), DG357 (Tustumena Glacier one permit), and DG358 (Fox River two permits). Winners will select a subunit in the order they are drawn.
  • Two Caribou permits will be drawn for the Killey River Caribou Herd.
  • One Sheep permit for Unit 15 will be drawn for applicants from Ninilchik and Cooper Landing.

Unit 7 (Open to Federally qualified residents of Chenega Bay, Cooper Landing, Hope, Moose Pass, Nanwalek, Ninilchik, Port Graham, Seldovia, and Tatitlek)

  • Three Mountain Goat permits will be available, one from each hunt area DG338 (Crescent Lake), DG334 (Mills Creek), and DG341 (Cecil Rhodes Mountain). Winners will select a subunit in the order they are drawn.
