American Samoa Governor Togiola “Blessed” for a Second Term

On Friday, January 9, the Director of the Office of Insular Affairs, Nikolao Pula, attended the inaugural festivities in the Territory of American Samoa for Governor Togiola Tulafono and Lieutenant Governor Faoa A. Sunia who were sworn in for their second term in office.

Celebrations held at the Veterans Stadium in Ili’ili, American Samoa were organized into a two-part program which included traditional blessings from cultural leaders, a parade, an ‘ava ceremony, song and dance, band performances and dinner. The governor delivered the Inaugural Address during the first part of the program and the parade opened the second part. Lieutenant Governor Faoa A. Sunia provided the closing remarks and the festivities ended with a “taualuga” at midnight. The inauguration theme was “Light Tomorrow with Today.”
