The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) has a mandate and portfolio of natural resources work throughout the Pacific Islands delivered through grants, direct technical assistance, and scientific research. Our goal is serving partners by conserving, protecting and enhancing Pacific tropical forests to sustain the unique people, nature, culture and traditions living among thousands of richly diverse islands. Most of the work in Region involves the State of Hawaiʻi, and Insular Area support is focused on three U.S. Pacific Island territories: Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands; and three U.S. freely associated states: Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Palau, and Republic of the Marshall Islands. We focus our programs on priorities identified in each of these islands’ Forest Action Plans.
