IBC Executive Leadership Updates

After serving as Acting Director since April 2025, Steven R. Brand has been formally appointed as the permanent Director of the Interior Business Center. With more than three decades of public and military service, including roles in the U.S. Marine Corps and senior executive positions at the Department of Energy, IRS, and Department of Homeland Security, Steven brings deep expertise in large-scale IT, acquisition, HR, and financial operations. Under his leadership, IBC will continue to deliver compliant, efficient, and reliable mission-support services that federal agencies depend on to achieve their goals.

We are also pleased to welcome Jennifer Ackerman as IBC’s new Deputy Director. Jennifer has extensive leadership experience, most recently serving as the Director of the Office of Human Capital and Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer for the Department of the Interior. Her background, which includes leadership roles at the Peace Corps and in the private sector at Deloitte, will be instrumental in strengthening our operations across our shared service areas of assisted acquisition, financial management, and human resources/payroll.
