The DOI Chief Information Officer also serves as the Senior Agency Official for Privacy (SAOP), ensuring privacy receives senior-level visibility and Department-wide attention. The DOI Privacy Office manages and coordinates privacy program operations on behalf of the SAOP, including privacy policy, privacy risk management, Privacy Act implementation, privacy compliance reviews, and privacy incident coordination.

What the DOI Privacy Office Can Help With

  • General questions about the DOI Privacy Program.
  • Privacy Act access, amendment, and consent questions.
  • Privacy Act Statements, Systems of Records Notices (SORNs), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), and Privacy Threshold Assessments (PTAs).
  • Questions about privacy requirements for DOI systems, applications, websites, forms, information collections, and digital services.
  • Questions about privacy incidents, breach reporting, and safeguarding personally identifiable information (PII).
  • Routing questions when you are unsure which DOI Bureau, Office, program, or system maintains the records or information at issue.

Bureau and Office Privacy Support

DOI no longer maintains separate public Privacy Officer listings for each Bureau and Office on this page. Privacy support for DOI Bureaus, Offices, and Departmental components is coordinated through the DOI Privacy Office. If your question involves a specific Bureau, Office, program, system, or record, please identify it in your message so the DOI Privacy Office can route the matter to the appropriate Privacy Officer, Privacy Analyst, System Manager, or program contact.

The DOI Privacy Office provides or coordinates privacy support for the following DOI Bureaus, Offices, and Departmental components:
