DOI International Instruments
DOI is an important implementing agency for a number of international agreements entered into by the United States over the past century, for example, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora (CITES), the World Heritage Convention, the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, a Transboundary Hydrocarbons Agreement with Mexico, and treaties on migratory birds with Canada, Mexico, Japan and Russia.
In addition, to support its international cooperation, DOI may sign international instruments such as a memorandum of understanding (MOU), joint declaration, joint statement, letter of intent, etc. with foreign governmental counterparts.
