Energizing Insular Communities Program Funding Now Open for Applications from U.S. Territories

Proposals are now being accepted for the Energizing Insular Communities (EIC) program funding for fiscal year (FY) 2020. Those eligible to apply are local government entities, independent authorities, and educational institutions located in the U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The deadline is June 15, 2020.

Interior Redirects $2.2 Million in Prior Year Grant Funding for Guam and Rota

DOI Assistant Secretary Douglas W. Domenech today announced $2,216,370 in redirected prior year grant funding for renovations at the Guam Adult Correctional Facility and to purchase a rock crusher for the Rota quarry in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI).

Assistant Secretary Domenech has cancelled plans to attend the Pacific Risk Management ‘Ohana (PRiMO) 2020 Conference hosted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Retired Navy Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet, Ph.D., Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and Deputy NOAA Administrator, and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Director James Reilly will still attend.

Secretary Bernhardt Announces $1,656,055 in FY 2020 Funding for Four Atoll Healthcare Program in the Marshall Islands

Secretary Bernhardt has authorized $1,656,055 in funding to the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Ministry of Health and Human Services under the Four Atoll Healthcare Program. This program is used to provide basic healthcare services for the people of the four nuclear-affected atolls in the RMI - Bikini, Enewetak, Rongelap and Utrok.

The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2020 - 2021 cohort of the Pacific Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP) for candidates from the U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and from the freely associated states of the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau.

Interior Announces $820,600 in FY 2020 for Prior Service Trust Fund Program

Assistant Secretary Domenech has authorized $820,600 in FY 2020 funding for the Prior Service Trust Fund (PSTF) Administration, which distributes benefits to the more than 700 former employees of the post-World War II, U.S.-administered, Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands (TTPI) in the Western Pacific.
