Acting Deputy Secretary Daniel-Davis Highlights Commitment to Incorporating Indigenous Knowledge, Enhancing Tribal Climate Resilience at COP29

Acting Deputy Secretary Laura Daniel-Davis today kicked off a week-long series of events, meetings and activities at the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Baku. The Department of the Interior delegation’s participation at COP29 will highlight the progress made under the Biden-Harris administration towards pursuing nature-based solutions and ambitious clean energy goals, addressing drought resilience needs across western states, investing in climate adaptation for at risk communities affected by sea level rise and coastal and inland flooding, and honoring Indigenous communities, including by applying and protecting Indigenous Knowledge to address complex climate and biodiversity risks.
