Federal Subsistence Board Approves Temporary Changes to Wildlife Harvest Regulations

The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) approved Emergency Wildlife Special Action WSA24-05 to implement changes to Federal subsistence wildlife harvest regulations that were already approved by the Board during their April 2024 wildlife regulatory meeting. Due to the delayed publication of the final rule, approving this request serves as an interim measure to implement these regulation changes, effective Jul. 1-Aug. 29 or until the final rule is published in the Federal register.

Federal subsistence moose hunting season closing in a portion of Unit 5A

YAKUTAT, Alaska - Yakutat District Ranger Lee Benson, under authority delegated by the Federal
Subsistence Board, is closing the 2023 Federal subsistence moose season for that portion of Unit 5A west of the Dangerous River, except the Nunatak Bench, effective Oct. 16 2023 at 11:59 p.m. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) has a closure for the State season.

The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) approved WSA23-06 to close Federal public lands to caribou hunting by all users in Units 11, 12, and 13 for 60 days due to conservation concerns. The closures in Units 11 and 12 extend from Oct. 1-Nov. 29, 2023. The closure in Unit 13 extends from Oct. 21-Dec. 19, 2023.
