Kuskokwim River Mainstem Fishing Opportunities

Pursuant to authority delegated by the Federal Subsistence Board, the Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge (YDNWR) Manager, as In-Season Manager, hereby announces five gillnet fishing opportunities for Federally qualified subsistence users only downstream of the Kalskag Bluffs and Uknavik Slough (Kalskag Line) to the mouth of the Kuskokwim River at the Refuge boundary (see maps):

Yukon Area Gillnet Closures in District 6

06/28/2024

This Emergency Special Action closes the Federal public waters of Yukon Subdistrict 6-A and the Federal public waters of the Kantishna River to the use of gillnets of any size for a two-week period, when the bulk of the Chinook salmon run is projected to be in these sections of the river. All gillnets must be removed from the water during this gillnet closure period.

This Emergency Special Action closes the Federal public waters of Yukon District 5 and to the use of gillnets of any size for a two-week period, when the bulk of the Chinook salmon run is projected to be in these sections of the river.
