Fisheries Management Areas

Federal Subsistence Management Program Fishery Management Areas are designated geographic areas in Alaska where federal subsistence fishing regulations apply. The regulations governing these areas are outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) under 36 CFR Part 242 for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and 43 CFR Part 51 for the Department of the Interior. Area-specific restrictions and geographic descriptions for each management area are outlined under 36 CFR 242.27(e) and  43 CFR 51.27(e).
