    This is an important bibliographic database of citations to the agricultural literature, and is produced by the National Agricultural Library, USDA. Includes material whose full text is available online in the National Agricultural Library Digital Collections

  • Atlas of the Flora of New England
    Supported by the Harvard University Herbaria.

  • Biodiversity Heritage Library
    Ten major natural history museum libraries, botanical libraries, and research institutions have joined to form the Biodiversity Heritage Library Project. The group is developing a strategy and operational plan to digitize the published literature of biodiversity held in their respective collections.

  • Botanicus Digital Library
    Freely accessible digitized historic botanical literature from the Missouri Botanical Garden Library. The Library has been digitizing its materials since 1995, focusing primarily on beautifully illustrated volumes from its rare book collection.

    The Flora of North America presents information on the names, taxonomic relationships, continent-wide distributions, and morphological characteristics of all plants native and naturalized found in North America north of Mexico. It will eventually reach 30 volumes and will be available in print and on the Web.

  • Global Invasive Species Database
    This database is managed by the Invasive Species Specialist Group of the Species Survival Commission of the IUCN-World Conservation Union. It was developed as part of the global initiative on invasive species led by the Global Invasive Species Programme and is supported through partnerships with the National Biological Information Infrastructure, Manaaki Whenua-Landcare Research, the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, the University of Auckland and private donations.

    Provides access to Agriculture Department publications either digitized by NAL or through NAL's partnerships with other institutions.

  • National Wetland Plant List
    A national effort led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to update the North American Digital Flora: National Wetland Plant List (NWPL). The NWPL is used extensively in wetland delineation, wetland restoration and research, and the development of compensatory mitigation goals, as well as in providing general botanical information about wetland plants. It covers all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Caribbean and Pacific islands that are considered to be territories of the U.S.

    Updating the NWPL has been a cooperative effort of the Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, The Biota of North America, states, Indian Nations, the academic community, and the scientific portion of the public.

    Images of wildflowers, from the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. The center's database Native Plants of North America allows visitors to search for plants by either their common or scientific names, and the advanced search feature allows searches by combinations of fields such as light requirements, size, and bloom characteristics. It also features helpful plant lists like "Bee-friendly Plants" and "Plants for Drought," as well as lists of recommended native plants for nearly every US state and Canadian province. The listings include the scientific names and USDA classification, as well as helpful information for gardeners.

    A source for authoritative conservation information on more than fifty thousand plants, animals, and ecological communities of the United States and Canada.

  • OBIS: Ocean Biogeographic Information System

  • Plant Facts
    PlantFacts has merged several digital collections developed at Ohio State University to become an international knowledge bank and multimedia learning center. It includes a concentrated Internet search engine dealing strictly with plants: over thirty-nine thousand pages of information from every land-grant university in the U.S. and several government institutions across Canada.

  • Plant Information Online
    A service of the University of Minnesota Libraries, Plant Information Online is a collection of databases that especially focuses on cultivated plants and plant/seed sources, with contact information for nearly twenty-five hundred seed and nursery firms. It has a large index of plant images and information from some six hundred books and magazines.

  • Rangelands Gateway
    Produced by the Rangelands Partnership. They created a database of quality, peer-reviewed information related to the ecology and management of rangelands, then developed educational resources for multiple audiences, including videos, phone applications, decision-making tools, and more.

  • Sustainable Rangelands Roundtable
    The Roundtable is a venue for communication, discussion and dialogue about developing a national sustainability indicator set and models for rangelands. Participants include private individuals, conservation organizations, land trusts, tribes, state and local governments and corporate and private landowners.
